Poverty is extreme in Indonesia and the Philippines but NOT in Malaysia. Malaysia has done a relatively good job in providing housing, schools and clinics for the poor. Malaysia, unlike Indonesia and the Philippines, is less under US control.Reportedly the CIA wants Mr Anwar to replace the present prime minister of Malaysia. Anwar is suspected by some of being a CIA asset or agent.

I'm going to KL next month! I'm so excited! But just from this video, it seems to me that the government must be at least a little corrupt to build such nice buildings and gardens while leaving the people in poverty. Is that right? Could someone please explain to me the politics of Malaysia?

sure, we have more swanky malls and clubs and cafes now...but the dilapilated buildings in the video still stand, and lots of people still live like how the people in the video do. I love this video for how it captures KL in honesty and simplicty hardly giving the twin towers the usual rave review. :)
