All through the movie I wondered why they casted that fellow into the school master role! TILL he started dancing!! :) Both of them dancing is a treat to the eye!

The role is that of a talented professionall dancer :). The Jyothika actress was a totally wrong pick then, isn't it? They should have found somebody of Bhanupriya caliber and TN is not short of good Bharathanatyam dancers. They only sometimes lack the sense to undertstand that glamour dolls fit only into glamour doll movies and could look retarded (like Jyothika does in the dance scene) if casted in the wrong role.

I agree you are an idiot. South Indian film industry has made some tremendous films much of which was later remade into hindi.

And it is b/c the film has bagged several prestigious National Award as oppose to other versions.

first of all, chandramukhi(jyothika version) was very well marketed throughout asia.. or else we wouldnt even be here critisizing about this movie.. so realise that.. 2ndly, about the dance thing.. well, only the chandramukhi character requires dancing skills.. not "ganga" so jyothika scored good as a clown dancer cos its suppose to be like that.. so why critisize? but of all.. its still a copied movie.. so Manichitrathazhu should be the best one. As for rest of the versions, i have doubts.. :P

I dont know why people are trying to compare Soundarya and Jyothika along with Sobhana's performance. It is un-comparable. Shobhana is ultimate and she is way ahead of both of them in acting and dancing. Infact, Tamil version of the movie is very pathetic ... I would recommend everybody to watch the malayalam version 'Manichithrathazhu' atleast once.

hehehe..nutty...vidya balan herself is from Kerala...so if its about regionalism...it does'nt matter who you praise..credit would go to the same region...but the fact is Shobhana did a way better job at acting and dancing which is why she won the national award for it.I'm sure even Vidya Balan herself agrees.Take a chill pill yaar...and regarding the sound of hindi and bengali..maybe you're right...it may sound more pleasing than malayalam to you...differs from person to person though

No its not b/c since the character is suppose to be a dancer Shobhna is a perfect choice since apart form being a fantastic actress she is also a fantastic dancer which helps enhance the character even more. Jyouthica on the other hand is a fantastic actress but b/c she is not a trained dancer she was a off during the dance sequence and the climax which is not her fault at all. She overshadowed it with her acting. No doubt Shobna was much better and that is why she got away with the icing (NA). |
