Haha, I see why you say they aren't the same chords. I think he was being creative by slightly deviating from the original chord progression, but the form is still there. At the end it sounded like he and the bassist went minor or something. It sounded like a half-step down. Nice playing here.

That must have been it I guess. Well...I have the Pershing CD, and a wonderful version of the Keith Jarrett trio playing it as an encore. You know that one? It's on "Whisper Not", a live album from 1999.

I agree with you .... the "Live at the Pershing" (which I believe is from 1954 or 58) is better .... but then again you have to figure that after playing this song for at least 50 years .... he might want to change it a bit to keep it even marginally interesting to him. |
