She wasn't adopted, the tv part goes hand in hand with the "Pretty Happy Family", meaning the way things used to be before her father wanted to get out of the relationship... I don't know how you get adoption out of having a memory of a happy family, usually children are adopted when they're babies not 5-9 years old. You can read her wikipedia entry which never mentions foster families or adoption.
