I know the documentary. I doubt Herzog would use the footage in his ownership to tell there is a better and a worse, and his comments in that section of the documentary, especially those refering to the other Robards/ Jagger scene, do not at all suggest the better/worse thinking of your last sentence in the video description. But of course, Kinski is at his best in that scene....and Herzog´s roles just suited him perfectly.

elvengadordebronce: please note that i did no specific editing of this clip. rather, herzog puts them back-to-back for his documentary on kinski, "my best fiend." it seems clear to me that he did so to showcase kinski's talent compared to better known actors.

Besides that, one has to take into account that between the shooting of one scene and the other a long time passed, a time that Herzog certainly used to overthink the character and the meaning of the scene.
