I agree. Galli-Curci sets the bar impossibly high, particularly in this performance, for other singers and for listeners as well, who, like me, become spoiled. There are several exceptional recordings of the aria: those of Callas, Tetrazzini, Sembrich, and Ivogun immediately come to mind. But the technical perfection Galli-Curci demonstrates here (plus her warmth and style) is truly miraculous.

It is beyond belief that the human voice is capable of such singing: the purity of tone, subtlety of coloration and control of dynamics are phenomenal.

Amelita Galli curci:} Well, how can i start she posessed a brillant and sweet voice. A voice with so much emotion, control and youthfulness(spelling?)She had exquiste scales and an amazing trill to end all her arias. What a great singer she was.{:

What a career tragedy. Her surgeon carefully preserved her recurrent laryngeal nerves in removing her thyroid, but bagged her superior laryngeal nerve(s), robbing her voice of endurance. I love her voice, and Lily Pons too.
