Mattar Mohammed is the greatest exponent of the instrument. He was a Nawar - or bedou from the Syrian/ Lebanese desert. Totally uneducated but a self-taught geniuos who played without shoes and was exploited all of his life. At one point, you could book him for a party and only provide him with a bottle of J. Walker and fried chicken - he would play all night. Througout his career, He made only 2 vinyl LPs. He passed away penniless.

You are right kibaroglu..Also to people who dont know him Mattar Mohammed is an old real master of bouzuk..
