In a difference approach, the Viets have a greater cause to fight. Not because they wanted French to be their subjects. Therefore they win, although casualties are always sad, but compare to your nations and its people independent? It is worth it.That can't trade,specially with the French.

the difference was just that viets nation was arranged to support its casualties to win in the measures of 10 and more for any french soldier (and so it was at the end). Not the same for the french nation and its pubblic opinion.

Before speaking of the weakness of France, ask yourself if the Viet army would have been victorious if the situation were the other way round (Viet army defending a fortress in France)

joe101934: That is true! DBP sure was the grave of the French colonial army. It was also a nail in the coffin of US imperialism in Vietnam as well although the US was too dense to realized it at the time!
