So a car is the same thing as an organism?

bodthe thing that would be different in an atheist world would be that people would be educated about facts not waste time and resources on fantasy. that this education would point out our similarities not our inherited differences. that nations who rally under god to attack others will no longer have that to hide behind. bad things would still happen but those who would control us with ancient superstition and fear of death would have to get proper jobs!

bod'EVERYTHING goes away when the human mind is gone doesn't it? 'no!

How this Christopher guy can speak so much nonsense is beyond me and Jewish people are very gracious. I would not even tolerate such nonsense. I don't know if that is good or bad but he assumes far too much. Virtually everything that he said is an assumption. My main proof of God is the fulfilment of Moses' prophesy of Shiloh. There are also many additional prophecies that support the coming of Messiah.

DaltI was kind of being a little tongue-and-cheek with the fate comment. I don't know anything about that really. You wrote: "it is generated by our minds!" That, my friend, is where I think we need to explore and investigate because I don't think we understand enough about the human "mind" or about human consciousness and what it is that has really led us to dominance on this planet. And not just the spiritual realm but EVERYTHING goes away when the human mind is gone doesn't it?
bodhisattva99 (September 5, 2008 at 12:05 am)
That's true. But it isn't what I'm really trying to say. I'm saying that there is as much the possibility of God existing today as there ever was. Nothing is certain. People are imperfect... whether we are primates or not. Whether atheist or not. The thing I can't understand is why it matters to you when you think that life is essentially meaningless. What does atheism have to offer in terms of our future development? What would be different? Really?

jana, (cont.)SIN is the poison and the problem.Put your reality glasses on."And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually." (Ge 6:5):-0Now why the coming Judgments in Revelation?Learn quickly.:-)

jana,Simply remove the police and military from a a large city for 30 days, with unrestrained access to drugs, alcohol, and everything relationally, and watch the "love" bubble to the top. Children would be fodder for exploitation.Nobody would care about the bible in the hotel room drawer.

If the religious indoctrination of children ceased, the 'need' for a creator would be far less.Planting the seed at an early age does the damage.Guilt, fear, prejudice become implanted and hard to shake, should that individual try later in life.Liberation therefore not so easy to attain.Removing indoctrination is a big step towards religion being a thing of the past. |
