Of course Italy was supeiror. Italy beat Argentina, Brazil and Germany to win the World Cup in 1982. Can you imagine any other team winning against such teams to win the World Cup? The Italian win in 2006 was easy, only Germany and France as competition.

I'm a Juventus fan, I don't say we lost the champion's league in '98 because of a goal in offside, we lost it because we played bad.
You lost the match because your defence line came out from Captain Tsubasa, and you let us 3 goals. The second goal is hard to see even in a third division match.
If you can't defend you can't say you can play football

And if Brazil was terrifing with Zico Socrates and Falcao, but Italy was monstrous with their defence.
Zoff: Best goalkeeper of that time and one of the best of all times along with Buffon, Peuzzi, Zenga and Pagliuca
Collovati, Cabrini
Scirea: The best sweeper of all times along with Baresi
And Gentile: just impassable, for reference ask Maradona on the previous match when he didn't touch a ball

Brazil was amazingly strong on the names, and they showed all their class in the action of their first goal (beside there was a goalkeeper mistake) But they had 2 great problems:
1)They were too arrogant, they just needed a draw but went full onward because they were Brazil, leaving highways for italian's counteattacks
2)Defence is part of football, and many disrespect Italy because we master it, and think this isn't a beautiful play. All of the 3 goals were embarassing for the brazilian defence

Italy did it in '34 and '38 while Brazil did it in '58 and '62. So yeah, for those of you who hate (are jealous of) Italy, too bad, because they truly are one of the best nations on Earth in this fine sport and will always be whether you like it or not, lol.

Now, to say Italy is great and they'll defend their current title is going overboard a bit. To accomplish that sort of thing is very hard to do, so nobody should expect it. However, if you're watching this video now, you also looking at the two teams, the only two teams in history to have ever won two consecutive World Cup titles in a row.

A lot of people tend to disrespect Italy for some odd reasons which never make any sense, and to be honest, those of you who do that, you're only making yourselves sound more and more stupid every time. Italy has always been one of the 8 giants. Uruguay would be the ninth but they seem to have folded out over the years. Italy will always have the "beautiful game" in them.

Italy in '82 did a terrific job to prevail victorious but it's not to say they didn't do a great job in '06. It's just that in the '06 tournament, they had an easier route to take on (except for Germany and France). Compare the routes, Italy in '82 had to deal with all Brazil, Argentina, and Germany and managed, not to mention very well. THINK ABOUT THAT, lol. |
